We’ve come a long way from humble beginnings. We started as a small crew in Stockholm with an idea: make creativity simple. Since then, we’ve grown our headcount, expanded across four continents, and created four solutions that help creatives deliver work to deadline. We’ve watched ftrack Studio, ftrack Review, and cineSync support some of our favourite movies, television shows and video games, and we’ve won two Academy Awards and an Emmy along the way. We’ve only been able to pull this off because of our outstanding team. The ftrack team has helped us maintain ftrack’s boutique feel and develop a company culture that continues to head toward great things.

2009
The first version of ftrack Studio is created at Swedish animation and visual effects studio Fido (now Goodbye Kansas Studios) as an in-house production tracking solution.
2011
cineSync wins a Technical Achievement Award at the 2011 Sci-Tech Awards, from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
2012
ftrack the company is founded as a private company and ftrack Studio becomes its first product. Work gets underway in selling the solution to the media and entertainment industry.
2017
ftrack expands to meet demand from the Asian markets and creates a local presence in China, alongside dedicated customer support.
2018
cineSync is awarded an Engineering Emmy for outstanding achievement in technical development and for, “revolutionizing the way in which television shows can be pitched, produced and delivered.”
2019
ftrack releases its second solution: ftrack Review, a browser-based media review and approval solution with real-time, interactive reviews.
2019
We join forces with production’s most powerful secure and synchronized review platform to create robust workflow solutions for the creative industries.
2021
ftrack Studio is recognized with a Technical Achievement Award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for contributions to filmmaking and post-production.
2022
ftrack becomes part of Backlight, a new media technology company that has acquired ftrack alongside four other fast-growing media technology brands: Celtx, iconik, Wildmoka, and Zype.
